Why l've choosen to offer my Substack for free
Giving myself permission to honestly blossom and grow
Patience has never been a strong attribute of mine (maybe because l’m a Sagittarius!)
However, since l’ve moved in with nature and restarted creating and writing l’ve began to re-cultivate my relationship and comfortability with patience.
Since joining this wonderful platform of liked minded creatives three months ago. l was always on the fence about when l should start offering a paid subscription ? Was it right to do it at the beginning?, a few months in or a year in?
After reading a lot of articles from some of the most proficient and popular writers on this platform, l still didn’t have a clear answer. Observing and listening from a distance. Becoming aware and noticing who is doing what and why can be inspiring however at the same time it can also have the opposite affect. Meaning sometimes it can leave you feeling like you have to rush to compete with other more established professional writers. Often resulting in losing the joy in why you choose to create and put your work out there in the first place.
After returning to writing, yoga and mediation alongside simplifying and bringing some well needed structure to my days. I found l was in a deeper state of listening and adhering to my own honesty when something didn’t feel right and then voicing that. Cultivating self boundaries can have a profound on how you perceive and frame your experience in the world. Weirdly it was something that Elena B mentioned in one of her emails to me the other day when she spoke about how many edits she does before she presents her work, that requires patience and honesty.
After all honesty we feel in your gut. If something doesn’t feel quite right it probably isn’t. Always go with your Gut they say, but how often do we really go with our gut and why do we find trusting ourselves so difficult? These are all questions l also encountered along the way of arriving at this decision today. So why am l offering my SubStack for free? Well because simply it just feels right for me, where l find myself in this moment. Staying open and receptive meantime to see what unfolds along the way as l give myself permission to blossom and grow.
Where in your life would you like to give yourself permission to blossom and grow?
